Safari begins and ends in Cape Town

This trip involves wonderful coastal and inland scenery together with the knowledge of expert local guides, convinient hotels and stylish country lodge accommodation. Group size is limited to 9 passengers and travel is in a luxury microbus, minicoach or sedan.

THE ITINERARY

1ST Day – Oudtshoorn Country Hotel for 1 night
Leave Cape Town through Du Toit’s Kloof Pass to Worcester and traverse the wel known ‘Route 62′ passing through Montagu to the town of Robertson. Tour the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp where the true difference of landscapes is noted through the ever-changing semi-desert areas to your quaint hotel in Oudtshoorn.

After checking in to your hotel, the remainder of the afternoon is spent visiting the Cango Caves for a fully guided tour. Return to the hotel and enjoy a hearty dinner in the elegant dining room wel known for its ostrich fare and fine wines.

2nd Day – Klein Karoo to Knysna, convinient hotel, 1 night

When breakfast is done, start the day with a tour to a local ostrich farm. Leaving Oudtshoorn, proceed over the Outeniqua Pass and experience the sudden contrast of the semi-desert Klein Karoo to indigenous ‘Fynbos’ vegetation as we approach South Africa’s ‘oyster capital’, Knysna.

After checking into your waterfront hotel, freshen up for a superb dinner at a local restaurant on the Knysna Waterfront.

3rd Day  – Coastal Hotel, 1 night

After breakfast you have sufficient time to enjoy a boat cruise on the lagoon (not included) or a simple stroll through the village or waterfront. Enjoy a scenic drive through Wilderness via Dolphin Point to historic Mossel Bay. Send a postcard to friends or relatives from the famous Post Office Tree before visiting the Diaz and Maritime Museums with their relics of famous explorers.

Our tour continues via Swellendam to your hotel at Waenhuiskrans, set in the beauty of white limestone cliffs, giant sand dunes, pristine beaches, stunning nature reserves and the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. Freshen up for a delectable dinner featuring Cape country cuisine blending old Cape Malay favorites with some modern eclectic innovations.

4th Day – safari ends in Cape Town

After a full South African breakfast, the final day begins with a short stop at the small town of Bredasdorp with a visit of the world famous Shipwreck Museum. Continue via Cape Agulhas (where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet) en route to Hermanus.

Have a short rest stop in Hermanus, which is famed for being the best land based whale-watching site in the world. Our journey back to Cape Town continues via the wheat fields of the Overberg. Proceed via the spectacular coastal drive along the east coast of False Bay with its panoramic views of Cape Point and Table Mountain. Our tour ends with drop off at your hotel or at Cape Town International Airport.
