Cape Town to Port Elizabeth (or Port Elizabeth to Cape Town)

THE ITINERARY

1st Day  – Klein Karoo, Country Lodge for 1 night

Leave Cape Town via Sir Lowry’s Pass. After touring the plateau of expansive apple orchards in and around Grabouw, reach at the attractive town of Swellendam and proceed through the folded sandstone mountains of the Huis River and Tradouw Passes.

The true difference of landscapes is made clear through the ever-changing semi-desert areas of the Klein Karoo.Travel through the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp en route to Oudtshoorn. After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the afternoon is spent touring the Cango Caves for a fully guided tour. Get back to the hotel and enjoy a hearty dinner at a local restaurant famous for its ostrich fare and fine wines.

2nd Day – Knysna, Hotel accommodation, 1 night

When breakfast, set the day off with a tour to a local ostrich farm for a guided tour. Leaving Oudtshoorn, proceed over the Robinson Pass to Mossel Bay. Send a postcard to friends or relatives from the wel known Post Office Tree before touring the Diaz and Maritime Museums with relics of wel known explorers.

Take pleaseure in a scenic cruise via Dolphin Point to Wilderness and on to South Africa’s ‘oyster capital’, Knysna. After checking into your waterfront hotel, freshen up for a superb dinner at a local restaurant on the Knysna Waterfront.

3rd Day – safari ends in Port Elizabeth

When breakfast is done you have adquate time to have fun during the boat cruise on the lagoon (optional extra) or a simple stroll via the village or waterfront. Our journey to Port Elizabeth commences with a short refreshment stop in the ‘millionaire’s playground’ of Plettenberg Bay. Attractions to be visited in the Tsitsikamma Forest area include the Big Tree and the Garden of Eden. Gaze in awe at the scenery whilst crossing the bridge over the Storms River where photographic chances abound. Depart from the Garden Route through the Groot River and the Bloukrans Passes to Port Elizabeth. The day ends at your hotel or Port Elizabeth Airport.
